In a group of female rats, each having a weight of about 150 gm at the time of oophorectomy, the number of increased eosinophils was exermined 60 days after operation. Thease spayed rats were divided into two groups, and one, group was given subcutanous injection of 0.20 1. U., 0.25. I., U. of ACTH and the other group injection of 7.5 mg and 10 mg cortisone.
In ACTH injection group,. no decrease of eosinopluls was found, which can usually ?be seen in- a control group. However, a group -which ´was given subcutanous: injection of cortisone showed the same decreasing rate of eosinophils as in the case of a control group.
These results suggest that poor adreno-cortical function directly results from oophorectomy rather than from a secondary- effect by the pituitary system.
